Mothership Adventures FAQ

Frequently asked Questions for Cruising Tours

1)What do I need to bring on a Mothership tour?

Our tours are all inclusive. We supply lifejackets, gourmet food, bedding, shower towels plus wine with the evening meal. We will provide you with a packing list to help you bring all the personal items you will need.

2)Can I charge my camera batteries aboard the Columbia III?

We have both 117 VAC and 12 VDC cigarette-lighter style systems aboard with ample power for charging camera batteries and related equipment.

3)Do I need to bring my own binoculars?

Although the ship carries several pairs of binoculars, it is always best to bring your own if possible. This will insure that you have the binoculars handy at the critical moments of wildlife viewing.

4)Is it mandatory to go on all shore outings?

The beauty of the Mothership is that you only do what is comfortable for you. If the weather turns foul and you want a quiet day aboard the Columbia III then snuggle in! This is your holiday. Relax and enjoy yourself.

5)Do you supply maps of the areas we visit?

Yes. We offer beautiful charts free of charge.

6)Is Mothership Adventures able to accommodate special dietary needs while on tour?

We will happily do our best to accommodate your dietary needs such as wheat free, dairy free, Atkins diet etc. You must provide us with enough information ahead of time so we can shop accordingly.

7)Is alcohol provided or do we bring our own?

Wine is served with dinner and we keep a limited supply of beer on hand for non- wine drinkers. If you would like other types of alcohol, then you should bring your own, providing your consumption is moderate.

8)What are the sleeping arrangements aboard the Columbia III?

There are five private cabins which accommodate two guests each. Three of the staterooms have double beds for couples and two of them have single bunks for single passengers. There are three toilets and two showers shared between the five staterooms. Single guests may share a stateroom if the boat is full.

9)Do I have to worry about getting sea sick?

In general it is never a problem. Occasionally we will travel through an area of rolly seas, but never for extended periods and we have never had anyone find it a problem.

10)Will there be additional costs on the tour that I don't expect?

No. If there are any costs during the normal itinerary such as museum admission fees or costs for a First Nations feast or performance then Mothership Adventures pays for these at no extra charge to you. Any personal purchases you might make at shops or with artisans during the tour would, of course, be your responsibility.
